Who We Are
A society built on heritage, healthcare and home.
“The bridge between Singapore and Ireland — carried by every cohort since 2007.”
The Singapore Medical Society of Ireland (SMSI) is a non-profit, student-run organisation representing Singaporeans pursuing Medicine, Dentistry and Allied Healthcare in the Republic of Ireland — the largest Singaporean student body in ROI with 200 undergraduates and 600 alumni across five universities.
SMSI is the primary interface between Singapore’s healthcare organisations and our members — sharing training and career opportunities, grants, and news from Singapore’s healthcare system, while building a close-knit community through social events and outreach.
An elected body of students who liaise with government institutions, universities, and healthcare clusters across Singapore and Ireland — keeping members updated on grants, employment, and news from Singapore’s healthcare system.
Each Irish university has its own College Representative — a liaison who looks after the welfare of Singaporean students on their campus, regardless of degree, and connects them back to the Executive Committee.
SMSI partners with companies, organisations and societies to build mutually-beneficial relationships. We’re deeply grateful to the following for supporting the welfare and development of Singaporean students in the Republic of Ireland.
In April, SMSI held its first Sports Day at Ringsend Park, Dublin. After two long years of COVID-19 restrictions, participants got to enjoy the lush greenery and a sunny Dublin
In June, SMSI partnered with the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) to run a charity bake sale. Four of our talented bakers — Christopher Chan, Jonathan Tan, Elizabeth Lai
