Studying in Ireland
As of 01/01/2025, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University College Dublin (UCD) and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) are accredited by Singapore Medical Council. Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University College Cork (UCC) will still remain accredited by Singapore Dental Council.
Graduates from these medical schools, regardless of nationality, and including those who have graduated before 2025, can also apply to SMC to practise in Singapore, subject to the fulfilment of SMC’s prevailing requirements.

Application Procedure
General Information -
Medical graduates from all 5 medical schools in the Republic of Ireland will be conferred with a Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO). Dental graduates from UCC and TCD are conferred with a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS or B.Dent.Sc, respectively). These qualifications are recognised by the SMC as part of its Second Schedule and the SDC as part of its List of Registrable Degrees.
Applications to study Medicine or Dentistry in ROI generally does not require any additional tests. Applicants should have completed their GCE 'A' Level, International Baccalaureate, or equivalent qualification. If the applicants passes the initial round of assessment, an interview will be granted in Singapore.
As the Republic of Ireland is a separate country from the United Kingdom, applicants need not apply through the UCAS portal.
Please take note that applicants to Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, are required to take the UKCAT and apply through UCAS. For more information, please contact SMSUK.

In the past, SMSI and SMSUK have held joint visits to several Junior Colleges in Singapore to share about life in the UK / Ireland, studying Medicine overseas, and application procedures. This arrangement is made on a yearly basis. If you would like us to visit your school, please ask your University Counselor (or relevant personnel) to contact us at [email protected].

- Applications are open all year long and close at the end of March before year of intake
- IUMC open house dates are in early March of year intake (exact dates will be announced once confirmed, dates differ year to year)
- Interviews with Dr. Stanley Quek of IUMC will occur between March and May of the year of intake
