RCSI is a Dublin-based medical institution, and is one of five recognised Colleges of the National University of Ireland. The Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences incorporates five different schools, providing both undergraduate and postgraduate education. RCSI is a culturally diverse, international organisation with alumni presence in almost every country in the world.
The School of Medicine offers both an undergraduate medical programme and a 4-year postgraduate programme. Graduates are conferred with a Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) and Licentiates of the College of Physicians of Ireland and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (LRCP & SI).
There are two tracts for the undergraduate medical programme:
Applicants cannot choose to apply for the 5- or 6-year programme; instead, the RCSI Admissions Committee places students in the appropriate programme based on their academic subjects and/or grades they have achieved prior to admission.
Teaching is largely systems-based with the early introduction of clinical case studies and data interpretation. Early Patient Contact facilitates integration of the basic sciences and is followed by a clinical programme.
Further information about RCSI's medical curriculum can be found here.
Singaporean students in RCSI can be contacted through their Facebook group or via SMSI's RCSI College Representative .
