Trinity College Dublin (TCD)
Trinity College Dublin, located in the heart of Dublin city, is one of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland, and Ireland’s oldest university. Academically, it is divided into three faculties comprising of 25 schools, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The School of Medicine celebrated its tercentenary in 2011. It offers a 5-year undergraduate programme, as well as a range of taught and research-led postgraduate programmes.
Graduates from the undergraduate programme are conferred with a Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO). This degree is recognised as a registrable medical qualification under the Singapore Medical Council's Second Schedule.
There is a possibility for intercalation after the third year in the undergraduate medical programme. This programme spans 1 additional year and graduates are awarded a MSc in Biomedical Science in addition to their MB BCh BAO. Admission is based on merit and is competitive.
There is also a School of Dental Science, with offers a 5-year undergraduate programme. Graduates are conferred with a Bachelor of Dental Science (B.Dent.Sc.), which is recognised as a registrable dental qualification under the Singapore Dental Council's List of Registrable Degrees.
Undergraduate students may elect to sit the Foundation Scholarship examination, which takes place during the Christmas vacation, in their Senior Freshman year. The scholarship is awarded to students of exceptional ability, and is based on their performance during the examination.
