As mentioned in the APSN volunteer post, SMSI has been trying to liaise with organisations for more volunteer activities for our members to understand the community in Singapore. Down Syndrome Association (DSA) is one of the organisations which has also very kindly opened their doors to give us this opportunity. Airplane Day 2018 was a day planned between DSA and SMSI specially for the beneficiaries of DSA. The day was spent learning to fold paper airplanes and playing a stream of friendly competition and games.
A little bit about DSA: DSA is about developing individuals with Down syndrome through life long learning and social integration, supporting families through specialist services, information and education and being an advocate for equal opportunities, quality of life and their contribution to society. A really big thank you to the DSA committee and Steph for helping to organise the activity and taking care of us too! We've learnt alot about this community and we really enjoyed our time spent there. We truly wish DSA all the best in their endeavours and we're looking forward to working with DSA again!
