On 8th August 2019, SMSI held it's annual Pre-Departure Dinner at Copthorne King's Hotel. The theme for this year's dinner was "Timeless" to embody the timeless friendships that were made through SMSI. This is in face of the recent MOH revision of recognisable degrees and the resultant downsizing of SMSI in the future.
The dinner was opened by an opening speech by our emcees, Myra Tan and Joshua Janwar. Our incumbent president, Joey Soen, then made his welcome speech which touched on the future direction of the society. Our guests were treated to a delicious Penang-style buffet provided by Copthorne King's Hotel. There was also live music during the dinner, performed by Rachel Koh, Joel Lee and Charles Yap and also a hilarious music video of medical school parodies prepared by Deborah Theng, Myra Tan and Joshua Janwar. There was a game segment where we played Password and the 5 Second Game which had everyone laughing in their seats. Congratulations to all our winners again! Through the night, our members had the opportunity to take photos at a professional photobooth provided by FabFoto. There were many props for us to play with while striking our best poses for the camera. It was a great night overall and we would like to thank everyone for joining us. We hope to see you soon at our Annual Trip! The committee would also like to thank the following parties for their contribution in making the night a success:
