Last August, SMSI had the privilege to co-organize and participate in the annual “Yum Cha with Singhealth Residency” alongside SMSUK. This engagement and networking event gave interested students the opportunity to mingle with the program directors, faculty members and current residents of SingHealth. The half-day event began with opening addresses and speeches from various key personnel, including Associate Professor Lim Boon Leng, Designated Institutional Official of SingHealth Residency, the Deputy Director for Research and Education from National Dental Centre Singapore and the Co-chair of the Residents’ Committee. Following the sharing sessions, students were brought on a tour around the educational facilities that showcased the different technologies and equipment available to Singhealth residents to enhance learning and allow for more hands-on clinical practice.
The event ended with a final session of up-close and personal engaging session where students could socialize with various faculty and residents, over delicious dim sum! There were various booths set up, organized by the different specialties to allow for students to gain perspective and inquire about their specific interests. All in all, participants from the session gained a deeper understanding in what the Singhealth residency program entails and the necessary preparations required should one be interested in enrollment.
