It's time of our annual Chinese New Year gathering in Dublin again! This year, we had a Paintball session followed by a really scrumptious dinner.
Every year, the Irish Graduates Association of Singapore (IGAS) organises a specialties talk for all current Singaporean students studying in Ireland. This year, we had the privilege of having Dr Low Teck Boon, Dr Kevin Chua, Dr Peter Loke and Dr David Carmody to share with us a little on their journeys from medical students to where they are today.
Heading home to Singapore and starting out as a houseman has always been a daunting task for any medical student and even more so for the ones who have studied overseas. After receiving many requests to organise an information session on "How life is like working back in Singapore", SMSI finally had the chance to organise a session in conjunction with our seniors who have graduated from Ireland and started work in Singapore.
 As mentioned in the APSN volunteer post, SMSI has been trying to liaise with organisations for more volunteer activities for our members to understand the community in Singapore. Down Syndrome Association (DSA) is one of the organisations which has also very kindly opened their doors to give us this opportunity.
 To end off the season of Open houses and Engagement sessions for the year, NUHS has very kindly arranged a separate engagement session for UK and Irish students to address queries and concerns for overseas students planning to come home to Singapore.
 The Singhealth cluster is one of the clusters which has also kindly reached out to overseas students year after year, organising an engagement session to show UK and Irish students their facilities and present the many opportunities they provide for professionals joining their body.
 Every year, the National Healthcare Group organises a career day and engagement session for UK and Irish students to understand their system and cluster better. This year, we had the privilege of having Dr Faith Chia, Prof Lim Tock Han, Ms Shannon Chia and Dr Alyssa Chiew to speak to us.
 This year, SMSI ventured to do carry out more volunteer engagement sessions for our members. One of them was working with the Associations of People with Special Needs (APSN).
 Once again, SMSI kicked off the year with it’s annual orientation on 7th & 8th July 2018. It was a great two days of fun and games with both seniors and freshers.
